UMMMMM, even if UF uses any form of race for admissions, which if at all it is minimal. I can assure you that the exams and courses show no preferential treatment. A Black, Latino, or other minority must perform at the highest levels to succeed at UF. I can tell you as a “White” student that the African American students and Latinos that I have encountered at UF deserve to be here. We are, irrespective of race (which isn’t real), equal. We are the top performers in the south. Others hate us for our success, but UF will continue to be a beacon of light and hope in this God forsaken region.

Exactly frozenk0!! I am a minority as well. I strictly DO NOT believe in giving minorities free handouts to college simply because they are minorities. However, when a minority’s family has been in this country for 18 years legally and that student has been working his/her butt off to excel in and out of school and has done so successfully, that person deserves every chance presented to him. Work shows character. Self-studying, working, minority kid who achieves a 2300 versus a kid whose family has been here since the Mayflower and chooses to spend thousands of dollars to have someone teach him/her tricks to get through the SAT with a 2300…yeah, make your pick.

Make believe you are a college admissions committee. Do you really believe that a student who achieved a 2300 through SAT prep is going to be picked over someone who worked all their life and received a 2200/2250 without any prep? Isn’t it statistical that minorities work more to support their families?

And UF has a very diverse student body, including white Americans. There should be no complaints
