Our water softener is just over 2 years old and we are having trouble with it. The guy who installed it does not seem helpful and it is past warranty. Last time installer out, he seemed annoyed and we were charged, but did not seem to work long…a plumber advised to get a new one. We have a handyman who can install for a reasonable price. We are wondering what type get. My h was reading about the saltless kind that are more expensive but not lugging salt from the store. Does anyone have experience with saltless? Or advice on type to get? Home Depot is near us.
Do you want cheap or quality? You get what you pay for. My choice is Culligan. We went directly through Culligan but Home Depot also has a Culligan sales pitch frequently. Check to see which will cost you the least.
We went with a softener that adjusts according to usage- not a routinely every week whether or not needed cycling. I also found the price of salt delivery compared to getting a good brand was about the same- and no lugging heavy bags. Since it is the exchange of “hard water” calcium for sodium chloride salt I can’t see going with an expensive osmosis type system.
@wis75 thanks! I will pass along to husband and hoping for more comments. We would pay a little more for convenience and system that works…right now the water is hard and has been sketchy the past year. We want no hassle?
feel free to PM me for model number…
