<p>I honestly can't say with any authority, but... I don't think it would matter much. I don't know that the appeals process will even take admission into this program into account. I suspect, however, that the illness can help.</p>

<p>The shared experience program does guarantee you a place at the school you applied to but you have to do 2 YEARS at Merced. They won’t accept a transfer based on credits alone, you have to do the time( and the tuition) No way I can justify spending 27,000 per year to go to Merced for 2 years when I can go to a JC for 4000. and get a transfer guarantee.</p>

Not to extrapolate, but does this imply they consider UCI to be a higher tier than UCD and UCSB…?</p>

<p>I think UCSB and UCD were not ordered by the Regents to cut back on enrollment as much as UCI was. UCI was more impacted by the cutbacks.</p>
