<p>I have one cousin that attends Merced, and is completely indifferent about his whole experience. So any feedback on Merced?</p>

<p>My daughter just got admitted about 15 minutes ago. She knows that was the time as she looked about half hour prior to that - the first time in two weeks - and it was still pending.</p>

<p>Wow, that is tough @sophie8290. Based on an article I read last week in the LA Times, I think there is a method to the madness over at Merced. The UC system in general accepted more students than usual because, as they said, Merced has room and they can move students over. But how are they moving them over? They just can’t send someone a message and say your choices are full, how about Merced? So how I think they’re doing it, is they’re picking certain students, offering them substantial scholarships to see if they’ll nudge over to Merced, and then they wait and see who bites before they continue with the selection process. My daughter got offered a really good scholarship at Merced (we were amazed; no scholarships anywhere else). I honestly think they are using that plot to try and move ppl out of the other UCs due to crowding. Sadly, we turned down the scholarship. So if you’re mid-range GPA, they’re probably waiting to see how it shakes out. It’ll probably be fine. </p>
<p>I haven’t heard anything back yet either. How about you guys? I heard it’s rolling admissions. Is it a bad sign if I haven’t heard back yet?</p>
