What if im not ready to submit by 15th? will it negatively affect my chances?

No 10char

It’s like Harvard’s priority deadline. I guess they just read your app sooner.

The recent spate of emails and, particularly paper mailings, remind me of all the holiday ad s in the Sunday newspaper. Many colleges have been encouraging students to apply by December 15 and many waive fees for apps completed by this date. Perhaps I should feel grateful, as my son was motivated to work harder on completing apps, in large part to save the fee.
On the other hand, his HS requires that students request recommendations from guidance and teachers 2-3 weeks ahead of the due date. Teacher recs are all sent via snail mail. Not sure why, but “paper copy” is specified on Common App. S completed guidance forms weeks ago, but doesn’t think he can ask to have some sent earlier because it will make more work for the guidance office. I can’t figure out if his HS is just not as technologically advanced as others, where such a request would be OK.
How does this work at other HSs? Would a request to “expedite” be reasonable? I’d gladly donate the app fee to the HS, altho that might be seen as a bribe! lol

The idea is to give the committee more time to read your app which (hopefully) increases your chances. BUT tons of people have already submitted so we’re already under a pretty big pile. Basically get in it as soon as possible but quality is more important than ANYTHING

it won’t make any difference. i’m for sure waiting until after the 15th to submit (only will if i’m deferred/rejected from yale). get it in as soon as you can, but if you’re not ready by the 15th that’s okay.
