Our hired man stopped by today, on the way back to the airport. We missed connections with him earlier in the week. He looked great and my 9yods was thrilled with the uniform! Unfortunately, my dd that is doing the academy application thing is off in another town doing her first MOC interview...

Tell her to check out this coastie.

Ah, but Ben was in his dress blues... ;-)

btw--she said her interview went very well. Not a whole lot of "why do you want the military" but lots of just chatting--about her flying lessons, overseas trips, ECs, etc. She was really dreading it right after the SAT, but she felt good about it.

Great! It's never as bad as we picture it going in...the committees usually try to make the kids comfortable. Good luck to her whatever she decides. Today was the open house at the CGA. Lots of kids up there and we were helping the parents get a feel for the first year of being at an academy and how the family copes with it.

My daughter was invited to the open house, but alas...between the SAT and her MOC, she was busy! Glad to hear it was good.

See Boss. Another one falls for those dress blues. Although Jamz was mistaken for a pilot by security at the airport this morning and a "real" pilot had to correct them and said that he's probably a "Navy Fly". Jamz just shook his head and said, "Somebody's gotta drive the big boat!" Can't wait to see your young 'un in his dress uniform. Has he secured his date for the All Acadmies Ball yet?

Heartcross - so glad she was made to feel comfortable during the interview. She could relax & just be her great self. I've got all my fingers crossed for a perfect SAT! I know she had to have done well. The hard part is truly over. Now we all just sit back and wait for the announcement over which uniform she'll be in!!

Thanks for the encouragement! This is gonna be a loooooooong year. She still has to finish her apps for the NROTC schools--she put them on hold for awhile to finish the others. She still has 2 more interviews with MOC to go! I didn't realize that "our" mid had only one interview. One MOC didn't even want to talk to him--not a high enough GPA and they missed the deadline on the other. But, he got the one he needed! He didn't do an interview with some sort of liaison for USMMA--that surprised me.

They must have seen something they liked in "your" mid. Strange he didn't talk to anyone at USMMA. Jamz was on the phone with them every time I turned around. They let him in just so he'd leave them alone. Jamz did three MOC interviews and got all three. Then he got two more from other sources. It was a busy busy time. Well, now that I look back on it, I see NOW as a more busy time. HA! When he'd interviewed for the CGA, the guy came to the house. After talking to Jamz for about an hour, he said, "Son, have you considered West Point?" Talk about your jaw dropping. It was too funny. I truly liked the guy up until that point! (wink-wink). I hope your dd gets a great guy/gal on the next two. When they walk out feeling good about it, its a good sign!

boosf51-i know your son, well not really. Him and I met at the Naval Academy dinner back in like December...I got to know him through the MOC interviews and all, how's he liking it, and does he know an allan/allen? Also a swab.

Hey that's great...I know he met a lot of nice guys and gals during the admissions process. He's doing great and likes it a lot. You may see him at the game this week. He usually sells programs outside the stadium. He's on the crew team which he also enjoys. Not sure about Allan, I could check. Good luck!
