The early admissions starts on October 15. . . but we have until November first, right?

Yes you do

Is it bad if the application isn't in on October 15? Is that going to be a deciding factor?

^ Yeah, i was wondering about that too...maybe not a deciding factor, but a slight factor nonetheless?...

Gettiing it in early insures timely reference to the local schools committee for the alumni interview.

On the Common Application . . . Harvard is Restrictive Early Action?

yes, Harvard is REA on the Common App

Sending it early allows the Adcoms to go through your file in more detail. This I guess can work for or against you depending on the strength and uniqueness of your application (i.e. Essays, Teacher Recs, Scores, ECs)

Though in my opinion, it's always better to send one in asap, b/c Harvard will be flooded with applications Nov 1st.

No. It does not. Sending it early means the people who work in the mail room will be able to file your application without resorting to staying late-at-night, etc. Even if you send it in November 1, you should be assured that your application will be read in detail.
