so we went to the open house on Saturday. It was pouring so we didn't take the tour, but we did drive around campus. What an awesome place. We also took the bus to various locations and met some students. I want to go to this school so bad!!
Here's the good news: last year's mid 50% range SAT started at 1070! I have a 1040 so I feel so much better about that!
Here's the bad news: They want 4 years of science with bio/chem/physics. I have bio/chem/forensics and bioethics. I am not taking a science senior year. I am taking pre- calc, AP psych, and spanish through SUNY New Paltz. I've taken 7 honors classes along the way as well.

So now I wait. I'll post a college visit report.

great. I would suggest sending the faculty member you met in CSD and email to let him know how much you like JMU. Also -- contact your regional JMU admissions rep to let them know how much you enjoyed your visit and how you look forward to applying for admission.

I just got back from my tour and I think that JMU is one of the nicest campuses I have seen. Its a huge plus that they have the 5th ranked food selection in the nation ha. Everywhere I went they had Chik-fil-A and Quiznos and multiple dining halls. The campus was amazing, surrounded by trees and good scenery. I am a HUGE sports fanatic and I base colleges off the level of sports as well and for some reason we could not find the basketball arena once my tour was over. Idk where is was. Overall JMU was amazing and if I wasnt out of state I would go there in an instance. My question is when I was sitting through my informational meeting they said a competitive student would have 3 years of a language. If you have only taken 2 and they accept you will you be forced to take a year at JMU?

All JMU students in BA programs need to reach proficiency in the second semester of the second year of college level foreign language (232 level). All BA students take a placement exam which tells them in what level foreign language to enroll. Usually a student starting a completely new foreign language will need 4 semesters of that language. Many students who did pretty will in HS will only need 2 or 3 semesters if they continue with the same language they took in HS. Some students with a high proficiency in a language only need 1 language course in college.

If you are in one of the degree programs other than the BA (ie. BM, BFA, BS, etc....) you do not need to take college level foreign language. So, if you are admitted with only two years of a foreign language they will not make you take it in college.
