So I am now ending my first semester of Junior year. I want to know if I mess up this semester but step it up next semester if colleges will look down on me. And I mean top colleges like Duke, Upenn, GAtech.

My cumulative average fresh&soph is a 97.7. this semester is:
AP Calc BC = 75 (+7 pts on that)
AP Chem = 85 (+7pts on that)
AP Lang = 92 (+7pts on that)
Medicine = 96
US Hist = 96
AP French = 98 (+7pts on that)

These are really bad compared to my other grades from previous years (especially calc) so will colleges think that I slacked or am dumb?

Also I have taken all Honors and APs as possible: So far I have take:
AP Gov
AP World
AP CalcBC
AP chem
AP lang
AP french
so 6 total (and plan on 3 sr. year)
my SATs (ive only taken once, but plan on one more) is 1890 (superscore)
My EC's:
-Eagle Scout, Many many many leadership things and com. service listed through Boy Scouts.
-VP of Venture Crew for a year
-President of Venture crew for a year
-Advisor to Venture Crew for a year
-Bronze award in venture
-Prestigious student leadership program for 2 years
-Governor's Honors Program (french)
-JV cross country
-honor thespian
(and more EC's I got plenty)

-Finally I am hispanic and only 1 parent went to college.
-My high school is about 200 in the nation (0.1%)
-Class rank is between 10%-15% tile.

Do you think I stand a chance for high up colleges (Duke, Chapel Hill, GA tech, Upenn etc..)

Also is there a way I can make up / explain myself for my poor grades this semester. thanks!

You should be fine! Even though a 75% is not stellar, AP Calc is hard and if you have one B or C it is not going to wreck your application.

Your application looks impressive, especially your extracurriculars. You should be in for Chapel Hill and GA Tech while Duke and UPenn might be reaches.

Try and get calc and chem up. Obviously two bad grades won’t automatically get you rejected, but it will lower your GPA and class rank.
As for what to do, from my understanding it is simple all the hard classes resulted in lower grades, so not really. Come back after semester grades come out.

If the increase in rigor is great, then maybe they will overlook that.

Duke: Reach
UPenn: Reach
GA Tech: Low match (your weak Calc BC might be a red flag for GA Tech)
UNC Chapel Hill (in-stater): Match (score 29+ on the ACT or 2000+ on your next try)
UNC Chapel Hill (out-of-stater): Reach (score 32+ on the ACT or 2200+ and you’ll be fine)

To chris. My school taks on 7pts to AP classes so it will be a B and they do it in a way that colleges acctually don’t know it is weighted so for all the colleges know, I did get a B. so I will have a B in the class. Just not a high one. Also I dont have time to bring it to a B without the points because we have only 2.5 weeks left this semester (but year long class) and the final usually doesn’t bump a grade 5pts
