WEATHER at Bates...?!?!?

Ok…so i havent visited Bates and right now im the process of deciding which college to go to. Ive been hearing a lot of myths and realities and people’s experiences about the place etc etc and everyone is saying that Bates’ weather is miserable…cold…gloomy…Location wise: middle of nowhere…isolated…boring…nothing to do…etc etc.

Im from NYC and the city life really appeals to me…but at the same time
I do want to get the feel of a “campus” and all the other good stuff that comes along with the scenic beauty etc…but at the same time I dont want to be stuck somewhere, where I will be miserably cold all the time and which is boring…

Any comments…feedback…opinions are good! thanks guys!

If you want the feel of the "campus" then Bates IMO is one of the best places for that feel. It's not isolated, either. You won't be stuck as long as you're willing to go out from time to time. There's plenty of skiing for discounteed prices, even free (heck, contact me and I'll take you up to the mountains next school year, im transferring to Bates). Get used to the snow and the cold isn't that bad.
Just find someone with a car. There's plenty to do in Maine. But don't expect a big-city feel by any means. But without the big-city I find you have less distractions and develop very strong social ties.
