can any CH resident tell me what's the weather there througout the year? (actually, say from mid-august through jan.)</p>

<p>I'm only about an hour away and the weather is pretty good here except during the summer when it hits the 100's every now and then. There isn't too much snow, only about a day or two in january, but that won't be a factor if you're only here for one semester. Other than that, the weather is pretty mild and nice.</p>
<p>Summers are hot and humid. Fall and spring are very pleasant. Winters are cold, at least in my opinion (30s-40s is the average high during the winter months, with a few days in the 20s, although every so often there are weeks in January where it gets into the 70s). You need to own both a winter and a summer wardrobe to get along in North Carolina, as there are definitely 4 distinct seasons here.</p>
<p>be prepared for everybody to freak out if there is snow. Them be prepared for everybody to talk about everybody's freakout about the snow. Also, be prepared for all four seasons, as CarolinaBlueSkies said. Layers are key.</p>
