weather in ithaca (a.k.a OMG)

I'm from the Capital Region of NYS, is Ithaca's weather that much worse than where I live? I really hate the winters here, I'd rather it snowed more since there'll be a huge snow storm and then the snow will sit for a month and get all gray, yellow, brown, etc and look terrible. But I'm used to bad weather, so Cornell shouldn't be bad if I get in!

I'm a freshmen at cornell from south florida. Today was absolutely amazing. In the morning it was a beautiful white blanket, with the sun out and blue skies.

It looked like a winter wonderland. Gotta love first snowball fights.

Trust me you will get used to it. Your body gets acclimated in the 3 months before it starts snowing. Just make sure to invest in some good quality jackets (North face, Land's End, etc.)

oh boy, its gota be good to be from Canada heh? XD have to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit though..

Sleds, trays, and bikes are so passe... you haven't gone down Libe Slope until you have gone down it in a canoe.

chendrix- I felt the same way! I'm from california, and I it was so amazing seeing all the fields and roofs covered in white fluffy snow.

...but then I began thinking when I'd start get tired of it.

Cayuga: I'm not saying that Cornell is the coldest college ever, or that it is colder than those places, but you can't deny that it is COLD here

I know I sound like a huge baby but I deal with the cold because Cornell is so worth it. TODAY WAS SO COLD THOUGH can it be april please?

Hate to break it to you, but today wasn't cold at all.

whatever, I'm not trying to start an internet fight about weather. LOL.

Hey!!! weather is somethine worth fighting for!

Minor digression: they took away the "Hi Mom!" option on the live webcam! Now I can't wave to friends over the internet anymore. Bleh.

today is colder than it was yesterday but it does get colder next semester....

no, the Hi Mom preset is still there.

And yes, I agree, my favorite days were when it was snowing. When it was just cold and not snowing, those were not so nice.

i panicked when you said the "Hi stalker, ur, Mom" feature was gone - last night it looked shaky but it is fine - but do you really want to sit on snowy benches to wave at friends?

cold weather is great. Get used to it if you're going to go to Cornell. Here in Vermont, I walk around without a jacket all the time except jan-march

This is actually fairly warm today. Cold is when you actually can't feel your face.

Not necessarily wave to friends NOW in the snow. It's just that it's nice to have that function once spring rolls around again, like at Commencement. I could wave to relatives who can't make it all the way to Ithaca for my graduation and they'll still get to see me in action, cap, gown, and all. Haha that's so cheesy, if I must say so myself...

In NYC right now, it's 33, but it feels like 24 because of the wind factor, according to weather.com anyhow....and I forgot my mittens :(

haha....how sweet. But...good luck with that. Commencement is organized chaos :-)

Cornell University - The Ithaca Campus - Live View of Cornell

Try that Cam for the "Hi, Mom!" feature.

I can't wait to hear my admissions decision for next semester! I can stand the cold for that education.

Does anyone else really like the cold besides me? I'm the kind of person that needs 4 distinct seasons. My favorite time of year is Spring, and my ideal weather is sunny and like 70 degrees, but I enjoy the cold too.

I wish my lamo professors would hurry up and grade my stuff so I could find out what my GPA is so I can decide if I should apply for Fall '09 or Spring '10.
