Weather on campus?

So I’m a high school student from Dallas, Texas, and I really want to go to Macalester, but I’ve never lived or even travelled to anyplace farther north/colder in the winter before…I’ve only seen snow maybe 10 times in my life, so I’m wondering if anyone has any advice on adjusting to snow many (five? six?) months of the year.

As someone who is used to the Texas heat, do you think it’d be miserable to live in the cold? And if not, do you have any tips for someone who’s never lived in that kind of weather before?

It seems like such a perfect school except for the cold! Thanks for any answers!

Well, it’s definitely cold in Minnesota, and I’m sure it takes adjusting if you are from a warm climate. Invest in a good down coat, insulated snow boots, and wool socks, hats, mittens, scarves, and I’m sure you’d manage. One thing to know is that the Mac campus is very compact, so there is no need to be outdoors for long periods in cold weather. I’d say you can easily walk from one end of campus to the other in less than ten minutes. Plus several of the academic buildings have enclosed connections between them.
