What is the climate and living conditions of places like colleges in Georgia and California? I live in New England and I am wondering how different it will be to live in these places instead of just visit them.

California has some of the best weather in the nation . Do you ever hear people rave about Georgia weather ? I thought so .

The California coastal areas have good weather except the northern coast which is very rainy and cold. About 80% of the state has pretty crappy weather–see entire inland areas from north of Sacramento to Mexico where it is very very hot in summer and often cold and foggy in winter.

I left Ohio to go to college in Atlanta and loved getting away from the cold, gray winters. Atlanta winters are probably akin to what you are used to in the autumn with highs typically in the 50s, occasional freezing weather, and sometimes it hits the 70s. Also, because of the latitude, you have more hours of daylight in the winter than up north. Autumn and spring are beautiful while summers are hot and humid.

Having said that, my daughter has left sunny NC to go to school in New England and loves the snow. So, my final assessment is that change is good.

Crappy and cold weather in Sacramento? It rarely drops below 30 and that’s usually just in the morning anyway. And even though it gets hot, its never humid and the summer nights are amazing. Just because the weather isn’t quite as good as the coast doesn’t mean it’s crappy. It’s still better than most of the country.

SoCal has the best weather. Whether it’s LA, or OC, or SD, you can’t go wrong with the coastal weather. I live in SoCal and it is absolutely gorgeous here. The SoCal coastal weather is mild year-round. We have miles and miles of beaches. People have a choice to live along the coast for milder temperatures or inland for warmer/colder temperatures.

30-40 with fog is more chilling and depressing than sunny and 10. I drove the 5 a few times from Seattle-LA in winter and was in cold fogs so thick I had to stop. Inland Cali has crappy weather except way up in the mountains.

Most of the schools located in the OC are ideal locations. For example, Chapman University in Orange and UCI in Irvine are situated between the coast and the inland. The temperatures are generally mild in the winter, high is in the 70s, low in the 50s, and seldom have fog.

Well I live in the valley and it’s not often foggy here so you can’t talk for the entire valley. And also, Sacramento has more sunshine hours per year than San Diego. Not saying the weather is better, but just saying. And just because you drove through some foggy spots a few times doesn’t mean the weather is crappy.
