what is the weather like up in oregon. i am from sacramento area of california, so i am used to hot windy fairly dry weather. is it really that rainy and gloomy? i have also heard that eugene is one of the sunnier parts of oregon.

also is portland within driving distance to eugene? there are a lot of things to do there. and i like going into the city so i think portland would be nice.

It will be wetter than Sacramento for sure, and not as hot in the summer (although it can still get toasty sometimes), but it's not like Seattle-rainy. Not even close. It's pretty mild overall for the Northwest.

Portland is maybe an hour-and-a-half away, maybe a little less... depends how you drive. ;)

thanks, that helps.
now i know what sort of things to bring.

is it usually cold there?

oh and i drive fast on the 5. so that's good. ;)

It won't get warm in the winter as a general rule... so, yeah, I'd say you could classify it as cold then, but it's not cold like the midwest is cold or anything like that. You won't need snow boots.

This will give seasonal averages, plus record highs and lows:

Average High/Low Temperatures for KEUG : Weather Underground

okay thanks for that.

so relatively rainy in the winter months, and mild in the summer and late spring...

got it! ;]

All I can say is to bring your Northface fleece!
