Oregon Winter Attire

I'm a prospective student for University of Oregon. I've done a ridiculous amount of research to determine if its really the school for me because I'm from Texas and won't have any time to visit except for a few days over New Year's. I realize that it rains frequently (which is actually one of the most attractive things about it) but I need help figuring out what sort of things I should ask for as Christmas/Graduation gifts in preparation for attending Oregon. Like I said, I'm from Texas where I can basically wear a camisole, a sweater, and maybe a windbreaker in the winter and be comfortable. Eugene is in the Willamette valley, and I'm not sure if it snows there or just stays wet due to its close proximity to the coast. Basically, anyone from the Pacific Northwest, I just need advice on what things will come in handy while I'm in Oregon? Are there any secret keep-warm-and-full-of-vitamin-D tricks that I should know about?

Any other information about living in the PacNW or Eugene/Corvallis/Portland would be awesome as well. Thank you!
