Can you tell me about the weather in Colby? (For example, how long it snows, rains, in the school year, are there a lot of sunny days, etc.)

I've never been to the north-northeast, so I would like to know how it is living there.

Thanks!

You probably can't love Colby if you hate cold winter weather. There's a lot of snow many years but it's often sunny and can be a kind of picture-perfect winter wonderland at times. To me, Maine in any season is gorgeous. It helps to enjoy winter sports like skiing so you get outside and stay active during the cold months. Two factors to consider: winter is long and it gets dark very early in November, December and January. For my daughter the darkness was more of a factor than the cold during her first year when she hadn't fully adjusted yet. Of course students leave campus for December break and Jan Plan allows many others to escape some of the winter weather by studying somewhere else if they are so inclined. Most kids who love Colby probably love the beauty of Maine and the closeness winter fosters among students who are on that small, beautiful campus together and learn to appreciate living in an extraordinary environment. It would not appeal to everyone, though.
