How is the weather at Seattle? Is it raining often? How long is the winter?

There is a constant overcast/drizzle from September through April. The rest of the year is mild.

Coming from California, I heard that it rained all the time. That is simply not true. It does rain quite a bit during the winter months but that’s about it. Even this late in to November we can have some sunny days. It is cloudy and sometimes drizzly, with an occasional heavy rainstorm. Outside of winter, the weather is quite nice.

But hey, I like the rain so maybe I’m delusional. One thing’s for sure, if you like/are used to the sun be prepared for a change.

don’t listen to these fools. It rains here ALMOST EVERY SINGLE DAY, and if its not raining its still grey and cold outside

I hope you’re joking. I lived in Seattle for 7 years and it most certainly did not rain every single day. New York City receives more rain than Seattle

I lived in Seattle all my life and it does not rain 24/7. During the winter/late fall it rains, but it’s manageable. All you need is a hoodie, people rarely use umbrellas.

Listen to Pyroza. NYC gets more rain than Seattle, and honestly you get accustomed to the northwest weather after a while.

The winter season in Washington is essentially just cold with occasional rain. Any real amounts of snow (>.5") is rare and shouldn’t effect a walking student much at all.

I’ve lived in Washington for 17 years.

A lot of people around here don’t even use umbrellas. If you dislike extreme weather you’d like Seattle.

I have lived in the Seattle area since '95 and in Pacific Northwest since '89. It is true what they say about Seattle - it feels like it rains all the time. Temperature wise it is generally very pleasant from April to Nov. Every winter we complain about short gloomy wet days but every time we visit some other place and return we feel that there is no better place than our beautiful Pacific Northwest.

I’m a Seattle native and I bring a fashionable umbrella everywhere I go. Even on sunny days, it’s my fashion accessory. I am aware it makes me look like a tourist.
