"Websites urge students to sell SAT questions" (LA Times article)

<p>This is a really strange story. I don't understand what these people hoped to accomplish or why they thought anyone would risk stealing a test for them for $25. It costs $41.50 to take the test in the first place. You want me to then steal it for you and get myself in serious trouble for $25?</p>

<p><a href="http://forums.abroadplanet.com/forum.php?id=W1127423266&vl1%5B/url%5D"&gt;http://forums.abroadplanet.com/forum.php?id=W1127423266&vl1&lt;/a> is one of their postings that apparently got them in trouble, but this post makes it sounds like they just wanted to buy copies of the released tests (which I don't think is illegal).</p>

<p>Finally, there was a notice sent out by the College Board to all high school counselors last Friday, which I think was related to this story. See below. </p>

<p>It has come to our attention that a fax addressed to "Guidance Counselor" has been sent to numerous high schools. In the fax, the sender claimed to be conducting a study of the SAT® and urged counselors to advise students taking the SAT tomorrow that the company will compensate anyone who sends them test booklets. The College Board has discovered similar solicitations on several websites from the same company. Please be advised that the College Board has filed a motion for a temporary restraining order against this company. Removing test materials from the test centers is strictly prohibited.</p>

<p>Please remind all students that test materials are NOT to be removed from test centers. If you are a test center supervisor, please be extra vigilant to be sure test takers do not attempt to take test booklets.</p>

<p>The College Board and ETS are working together to resolve this matter. Special thanks to the test center supervisors and school counselors who recognized this ruse and forwarded the fax to the College Board and ETS. You have made our investigation and speedy response possible.</p>
