Wednesday 2012 PSAT General Discussion

Oh, I wasn’t sure about that one. I went back and forth between no error and a, until I finally chose no error…

@studious @kimmie

Although I realize the majority of CC thinks it’s I and II, I respectfully disagree. (I originally had roman numerals I and II as well, until I saw my mistake.) I rarely ever change my answers, but I changed my answer then. I could explain my reasoning, but I suspect it would be futile, so I guess we’ll find out in December.

^ wait, nevermind. The answer was supposed to be II and III?

I remember the equations but not the numerals attached to them. And I remember picking only one roman numeral, not two…

Ahh, forget it, it’s been too long since Wednesday. (Though it’ll be even longer until December.)

Sorry to be redundant, but does anyone remember the art continuing sentence on the writing? I can’t seem to remember it? Thanks!

I put commoner! -_-

Anybody remember the math question with the bar graph answer of 6? Everyone keeps mentioning it…

Hey which SC was this answer : “imitate… an original”

Sorry I completely forgot ):

^it was the one about the blues musician who used unorthodox tuning and such

THANK YOU! THANK GOODNESS! I got it right:D

Did this thread disappear this morning for anyone else?

I think there was a question with a bar chart that told the grade distribution of a test. The question was something along the lines of “how many people got an 80 or over on the test”. I believe the answer was 6. Can anyone else verify that this was the correct answer? I might be remembering wrong.

@OACLJV
6 was indeed the correct answer.

Although the authoritarian regime afforded significant rights to the ____ of the opposition, their rank-and-file members still had little ____ to engage in political activity."

The correct answer is “elite…latitude”

I cannot remember what I put, and missing this would bring my raw score down from -2 to -4 (I don’t omit). Was “plebeian” an answer for either of the blanks? Elite…latitude seems like something I would put, but the word plebeian keeps sticking in my head as the answer I put. Am I just imaging things or did I pick the wrong choice?

I picked the largest number. So if 6 is the largest out of the choices, then so be it

The answer is definitely six, but I don’t think it was the highest number.

Yeah the thread did disappear. Does anyone know the exact date we recieve our psat scores?

Does anyone have a general idea of what a -3 in math would do to the score? I.e., is the curve going to be really harsh this year?
I took the 2 practice tests for 2011 and 2012 a couple days prior to taking the test and got a 230 and 231 respectively but only got around 1 or 2 wrong in math; I’m not sure if I just had a really crappy day, as everyone said the math was super-easy…
I’m a junior in multi-variable calc so the questions prooobably should be easy-I think I just got tripped up by silly errors/totally forgetting how to do a “how many paths”-type question.
I live in a state where the cutoff is around 220ish (was 219 the last year and 221 the year before) and if I don’t make the cut I’m going to get shanked.

For the bar graph question, what was the problem? Like the equation? Please someone tell me…

I hate to say this but a -3 (assuming -3.75, if you missed some grids it won’t be as bad) is looking at probably a 68 to maybe, if lucky 72 range. Also, unfortunately either the curve is going to be bad or the scores are going to go up in every state.

Nope, all MC…
Damnnnn
Alright, thanks

However, if you are normally getting a 230 to 231, if you do the same as you normally do in writing and CR, you should be fine.
