Weighted GPA on common app

So on the common app where you list your gpa, it asks for the scale and whether it's weighted or unweighted. So I entered my gpa using my school's weighting system, but now I'm hearing that weighted gpa is supposed to be on a 5 point scale. Did I mess up? And if i didn't, how do schools differentiate between the various weighting systems that schools have?

They’ll figure it out… they recompute it to their specifications anyway… some include PE, some include non-college prep courses, some only compute the 5 major subject areas of math, history, english, science and language.

You send in a actual transcript with the weighting and all that stuff marked anyways. What matters most in the end are your counselor’s comments, the AP’s behind your courses and the A’s in front of them. The self-reported stuff on the Common App matters very little, unless you put yourself as a 4.4 when you have a 2.2 or something similarly silly.
