Weighted or Unweighted GPA?

So I just took a look at the Common App preview and some other applications and I have a question.

On the Common App (<a href="https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/docs/downloadforms/CommonApp2011.pdf%5B/url%5D">https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/docs/downloadforms/CommonApp2011.pdf</a>) in the section for "Academics" there is a line that asks for your GPA, Scale and then next to it is asks "Weighted" Yes or No. So my question is: do I put my unweighted GPA or weighted GPA? Which is better to put? I have a 3.75 unweighted but a 4.0 weighted. Any suggestions.

And for other college applications, like NYU for example, do you put your unweighted GPA or weighted GPA?

bumppppppp

I doubt it matters. The only thing I would imagine they actually care about is your actual high school transcript.

I would report what is on your transcript (if you know) or what would be on it. So if you school weights, use that.

I think I used my weighted on it… I know my school’s transcripts include both weighted and unweighted, and many schools these days tend to look at unweighted just as much, if not more than, weighted grades, since so many people have ridiculously high GPAs.

Anyway, if your school weights, which you said it does, I’d go ahead and use that and then check it off as weighted.

Thanks guys!
