Weighted Gpa

In my school district, levels 1 and 2 of a language are “on level” while levels 3 and up of a language are “k”. K level classes are given more grade points than on level. I was very passionate about learning german but it wasn’t offered in my middle school, so i waited until highschool to take german 1 and 2. Most smart kids in my district take spanish 1 and 2 (the only language offered in middle school) during middle school. This means my weighted gpa will be lower than theirs. Does this ruin my chances of getting into top colleges?

This is typical, although not universal.

The impact of one unweighted class on a cumulative GPA is akin to a pimple on an elephant’s butt.
