Hello I am currently an 8th grader taking three highschool credit classes which are Spanish for Spanish Speakers, Art, and Algebra. I am not sure if I did so well in the first semester, here are the grades:
1st 6 weeks:
Art : 95
Algebra: 82
Spanish: 96
2nd 6 weeks:
Art: 89
Algebra: 77
Spanish: 97
3rd 6 weeks (We just started this one but I feel like I’m gonna score really high since I’m studying a lot more):
Art: 100
Algebra : 100
Spanish : 103
This is considered one semester and I’d like to know what would be my unweighted GPA since all these classes are graded in a 4.0 scale?
Another thing is I wanted to know what I need to score on my midterms to maintain that GPA?
Are these bad grades? Will they affect my chances of getting into college I’m still in 8th grade
I don’t know how my school grades the GPA but I just want you to give me an idea.
Calculating unweighted GPA is easy. Assuming your school averages out the grading periods and then calculates at the end of the semester, your unweighted GPA will be a 3.666666667 (You get 4 points for an A in art and spanish, 3 points for a B in algebra). Now, if your art grade averages to a B, your unweighted GPA would be a 3.33333334. It isn’t hard to calculate. You take the letter grade, convert it to the corresponding value (i.e A is a 4.0) and then average them out. So (4+4+3)/3 is a 3.666666667.
These are not bad grades. You have another four years to raise it.
It depends on how your school calculates it, but I agree it’d be around 3.7ish.
I believe midterm grades are factored into semester grades, so what you need on them depends on how much they’re worth as a percentage compared to your other grades.
At my school, classes we took in middle school are on our transcript but are not counted towards our GPA. You could probably ask about that, but I doubt that colleges will take much consideration for what grade you got in a class before high school
