Weighted/unweighted GPA + aid for international students

Could you, please, explain what the difference is between weighted and unweighted GPA?

Also, as an international student I’ll be applying for financial aid and I’d like to know - is it the SAT 1 scores (and perhaps GPA too?) that are essential when determining whether to accept a student with (full) financial aid? Do the SAT 2 scores play a part as well?

Your SAT or ACT score and your GOA, plus letters of reference, and essays, will be used to determine whether you are accepted at a college.

If you are applying for merit aid, aid that is awarded on the strength of your application…your SAT or ACT score, and GPA will likely be the determining factors in getting merit aid.

If you are applying for need based aid, your aid will be awarded based on your family income and assets AND the need based aid awarding policies of the colleges to which you apply.

Keep in mind…as an international student, there are only five colleges that are both need blind for admissions AND meet full need for all accepted international students. This means that either colleges will look at your ability to pay when your application for admission is considered…OR the college won’t meet your full need if you are accepted…or both.
