What if we have a mediocre SAT score but our GPA and ECA are strong, what are the chances of aid?? I am talking about international students.

SAT score only determines the amount of aid if a student is applying for merit money and there is a minimum gpa/sat requirement in order to be eligible for the scholarship.

Otherwise, SAT scores have nothing to do with financial aid.

as in international student, keep in mind that most schools are not need blind to international students so your ability to pay will be a factor in the admissions process.

If you have a mediocre SAT score, you may be at a disadvantage when it comes to being admitted to schools that are need blind and meet 100% of demonstrated need for international students. These schools are the most competitive as far a admissions is concerned and there will me many international students applying with stellar gpas and sat scores for just a few spots.

okay.. I was just asking as I was curious to get some info. abt it. I found people with really high SAT scores getting good finan. aid. and those with 1800-2000 scores ended up in colleges with less aid. I though that SAT must have played a very vital role in determining aid.

ECA is very strong.

There is a big difference between need based financial aid and merit based scholarships.

For need based financial aid the school will look at your income and assets and base aid on that.

For merit based scholarships schools will look at SAT scores, GPAs etc.

While not a direct factor in need based FA, SAT scores MIGHT have an indirect impact on FA in the sense that those students with higher SAT scores MAY also get into more selective schools with higher endowments and more generous FA policies.
