Weird, but how would I not accept my Cornell ED decision if I somehow make it in?

I don't feel like giving back-ground info, suffice to say I'm not asking this question because I'm aiming for a school better than Cornell, just personal stuff.

I hope, yeah this is weird, to get a rejection/defferal so I'm not legally bound to go to Cornell. I'm really hoping for this one, and I think with my lower than average test scores, I won't be dissapointed.

I applied ED to engineering, and a SATII in science is required, which I don't have, yay. That's the first plus in my weird don't get accepted to Cornell thing.

Second, my SAT in math is 670, and critical reading is 690. The pluses are my 95 GPA(unweighed), and numerous E.C.s And I have a 720 math IIC score.

What do I do folks? My chances are slim, especially since I lack the required SATII in Science. But is that enough to derail my application? I mean how many kids apply without that SAT II in science?

I have two options, call and cancel my application, or wait and pull off something.

Last question, is there any way to legally/ lying legally way to cancel my application without legal problems?

at this point... i think paying a lot of money is the only way... but cheer up... besides the 95 uw (which is awesome) you prob. have a really good chance for deferral/ rejection

you can withdraw your application NOW. as in before the 15th.
or ask them to change your decision type to RD.

The only other way to get out of it is by not being able to afford it.

Can you just tell us very briefly why you don't want to go? Perhaps it's a reason that cornell might be OK with.

if your chances are slim, what's the point in aiming for a school that's "better than Cornell." ????

just go onto the self serve site and click on the link "withdraw my application". As long as you have not yet received a decision I am almost positive you can do so with no repercussions. Your problems start after you receive a decision.

gomestar- the op said he WASN'T aiming at a school better than cornell, but withdrawing for personal reasons.
-If I were you I'd call the admissions office and explain your problem to them. They are human, and I'm sure they'd be able to help you out- probably by changing you to rd

What's the address for the self serve site?

ahhh yes, still adjusting to new glasses. Dumb things.

you're not getting in if you didn't take a required SAT II...things are required for a reason

is that really true? (that if you dont have a required SAT II, you wont get in) for example if you are required to take SAT II math...and you took the sat in oct....and u missed the deadline to apply for the nov sat ii....and decided to apply early to cornell really late...thats not fair though right? (im not in this situation, but it could have happened) will they accept u? defer you? will they just use ur SAT I math score instead? and assuming your math grades r good.

ehrm ... i hate to say this, but Spanks is right. things are required for a reason. they will make no exceptions since they would have to do the same for other people.

well its good i sent them the sat ii math scores from nov like 2 weeks ago

720 math IIC isnt good.

its liek 56%

720 is a respectable score. don't listen to bob. ur the reason why people freak out over SATs.

wat about for Math IC?

what about it?

the percentiles.....wats a "good" score, wats a bad score....oh so sad...im 3 days away from decision time and im freaking out over this!

"ehrm ... i hate to say this, but Spanks is right."

haha, thanks, man.

I got a 690 and IIC and look where I am now...don't worry about it.
