Weird CC SAT Trend

Why does it seem like all CCers are better at math than at English?

Every time people list their scores, I always notice that everyone calls CR really hard but calls math easy.

That's completely opposite for me and I've learned to take the exact opposite of what I see on CC. For example, if someone calls the SAT II Math IIC "easy," I know that it's probably hard and if someone calls the CR section on a certain test hard, I know that I'll probably think otherwise.

Anyone else stronger in English than math?

A lot of Asians on CC who are good at math and bad at English?

^ True!!..

I would say I'm relatively in the same skill range for Math/CR. But aside from SATs, I'm better at Reading and Writing. Writing is my best skill out of the three.

I used to be a lot better at CR and Writing than Math. . . but then I read RR and now my math is the best.

I think the trend is because people need to actually do a lot of reading to excel on the CR sections. People who are on CC 20,000,000 hours a day worrying about their scores don't really have the time to read.

Oh yeah, books suck! :D

RR ? what book is that

@Walton12: Rocket Review.

I think it's a lot easier to get very high scores (750+) on the math ones then english ones.. and a lot more common b/c there is for sure only one answer and no overanalyzing/debating.

I agree.

(Anything cool happen when you reach 250 posts?)

(edit: guess not :( )

^^ Then you're one of those people I'm talking about. It just seems weird to me b/c off of CC, everyone I know thinks of CR as the easiest and math as the hardest.

Haha, so GodfatherBob, you're saying that if I somehow find time to read a million books plus Rocket Review, I can 2400 on the SAT? Sounds like a plan.

i did significantly better on the reading/english sections than on the math section.

Math is up to Algebra II/Geometry (whatever your school offers). most CCers take advanced math courses and are fairly familiar with the math skills. As for english, its kind of difficult to study for and is more of a common sense than an academic portion. just my two cents.

one problem is that in calc we've kind of moved on past simple tricks that they show on the sat and they sometimes slip by.

altho i'm in no way a "cc'er". i just wanted to check some stuff after taking the test.

yeah like carsonne said theres sooo many simple solutions for the math that you just know.. im not a cc'er either lol (have like 2 ap classes and aiming for 2100 SAT). but still critical reading you can debate. besides do you and your friends get 750+ on it? b/c thats pretty amazing lol.. most people that i know who get 750 or higher on a section usually get it on math or writing (its pretty easy to memorize the common errors)

Yeah, I've seen the trend and I'm like the OP. Though I haven't taken the SAT yet, my PSAT score was 75 CR, 60 M...
I've always been an avid reader, though. I try to read outside of school for at least 30 minutes a day, and I usually succeed (it helps that I spend 3.5 hours of my day commuting to and from school).

I consistently score in the 99 percentile for critical reading, but in math I just don't know what my problem is. I score in the 600s even though I'm acing Calc!!!

I think it's because the Math section is generally considered to be easier to prep for (and score high on)...and I'm sure most people on CC prep for the SAT.

Oh, I'm totally the opposite! I'm guessing I got a 650 in math on the January SAT and 750-800 on CR and Writing. So, yeah, I break the mold a little, I guess.
