*also, comments of the safety/reachy-ness of the schools I listed?

not an interesting enough chance thread, or somethin?

I think people don't respond since they don't know these schools very well.

Virginia Commonwealth University (safety)
Christopher Newport University (safe match)
Hampshire College (match)
Bennington College (match)
Sarah Lawrence College (reach)
Bard College (reach)
College of the Holy Cross (slight reach to reach)

Holy Cross has higher GPA requirements than Hampshire, but similar test score requirements. Bard and Sarah Lawrence tend to be tougher than Holy Cross to get into because of their good locations not far from downtown New York City.

Your IB courseload should help a bit, so a school like Holy Cross might be a possibility.

hmmph... and i thought Holy Cross would be the most unlikely... =] thanks for the input Calcruzzer... I have to say though, SLC is my top choice, what do you think are some ways for me to increase my chances there?

First, I would submit the ACT score only, not the SAT (your ACT score is much better than the SAT scores). If you can get the 31 on the ACT retake that would help a lot.

The school is focused on humanities/liberal arts, so work with organizations--especially an interest in improving communities or in volunteer work is probably ranked highly. Longer term focus on liberal arts studies (as opposed to business, for example) is probably preferred. A balance of interests across things like civics, philosophy, natural sciences, the fine arts (and theatre) with a "passion" for one of these in particular is probably preferred--especially if you are highly talented in one of the areas. (Your passion seems to be for the physical sciences, or maybe the natural sciences).

Anyway, those are my suggestions.

P.S. And keep your rank in the top 10%--that's a must.
