I'm an columbia e.d defferal... so i'm filling out other apps..
since to me this columbia board has the smartest people on cc i'm starting a thread for help with weird essay topics for other apps. let's start with:</p>
<p>JHU: what would u do with $10 to plan your day? </p>
<p>Northwestern: all their questions are weird. help!</p>
<p>NYU: what did u do last sunday? </p>
<p>please post any suggestions or add whatever essays u need help with...</p>
<p>Don't you have any creativity at all? A brain?</p>
<p>I've seen the Northwestern questions. They're not weird. Maybe the introductory stories to them make their questions different from other schools' questions, but they're interesting, and you can tell NW put a lot of thought into making their app to find the students they're looking for.</p>
<p>I have no respect for you. I also object when other students help out people who can't fend for themselves.</p>

<p>well.... I'm a Columbia rejectee... join the club. Anyway, it looks like i'm filling out very similar apps as you are. For JHU, I made a mystery, kind of an adventure with a cliff hanger ending (I don't think that edventure has to be realistic - just have fun). </p>
<p>For NW, i took the one about carl Sagan.. abd wrote about something that i would like to see happen...I'm sure there is something cool that you'd like to see.</p>
<p>I thought about doing NYU, but decided against it, so sorry. </p>

<p>P.S> I've got to say, being rejected from Columbia with high stats is almost liberating. I was definitely depressed/disappointed at first, but now i realize that I have no expectations. I can't honestly say i ASSUME I'll get in somewhere. So, come April time, I'll truly be intrigued what I get in the mail. (I'll probably only be accepted by my only safety school though..)</p>

3 questions: how long for jhu common app supp essays?
anybody have any good idea for why George Washington essay?

<p>hey go48! umm...fortunately or unfortunately im not doing any of the colleges ur appin to, except for nYU....umm....i wud say that you put whatever you really did...to show that you wouldnt lie to a college only coz they asked you...its nothing to freak out about...they want you to be honest and i think your honesty of......."doing nothing....or studying or going out with friends" will be good.....dont write that "I went to see an independent film, which focused on Africa's economy etc etc..."....lol..u know what i mean? dont be artificial, but rather original!!! gud luck!</p>

<p>My JHU essay was pretty long (~800 words??). The one about my favorite class was like ~300 words. BTW, it might be easier to fill out the JHU App on its own, and not submit the common App, esp. f you're not too confident about your common app answers. The JHU supplementary essays are EXACTLY the same as their OWN applications' questions, and the rest of the app is sooooo similar to the common app. At least that's what i did (I do have to fill out the common app for harvard though.... but no suplementary essays, yesss)</p>
<p>ok thanks . i just wanted to make sure that the second jhu essay is not a full length one... i dont understand what u mean about common app/their own app.. doesn't matter i already sent them the commmon.. i looked at harvard supplement quickly it does sort of require an essay .. but anyways i dont want to go there too snobby... otherwise thank god for the common app a real timesaver.... btw if anybody knows of any decent common app schools with short supplements or none please post...
arsalan, i dont think ur right about nyu short essays: i think if you put " i did nothing but fill out apps last sunday and all sundays before that as far back as i can remenber " they might get a good laugh but i dont think it will look too good...</p>
