Please don't get me wrong, I'm taking 4 AP classes this year. I sincerely believe, however, that sophomore year was academically more intense than this year. It's a strange feeling considering how everyone complains about how stressful this year is supposed to be. I'm feeling little to no pressure in school. SAT's are a pain nonetheless though.

Only on CC could I say this, but…you’re only in 4 APs, there’s your reason.

Which ones?

Yeah I’m only in 3 this year (senior) and I like never have hw. Last year I was in 5 and it was a lot more work.

lol calc bc is easier for me than pre calc right now but I like calc more

and now I feel fail for only taking 3 AP’s (AP english isn’t available at our school junior year though…)

Yes! I agree. Junior year is wayy easer than soph year. Even though I have more APs. lol

I think a big part is that at lower grades, teachers feel like they have to guide you (ie. assign tons of busy work), and then they finally realize you can learn by yourself. I only took 1 ap sophomore year, AP Euro, but all the c rap we had to do, notes and stuff in that class made it so much work. I don’t have any graded hw in AP Chem or Physics right now, so the material I learn at my own pace.

Junior year was easy for me. My senior teachers like me to suffer. >:O

Junior year should have been my hardest year, but it was actually my easiest: got my best grades yet and classes were a breeze. I didn’t have to study for finals for the first (and probably last) time
I think it comes down to what your teachers are like. My year could have been AWFUL if I had gotten some of the teachers my friends had: instead, I got the “good” teachers in every class

I agree! Junior year has been a heck of a lot easier than sophomore year. I don’t think the workload is any different, but I just got used to it.

My Junior year is easier than my sophomore year, but the thing is these stupid online APs where teachers think you need 45 million assignments. We have literally done over 100 assignments in AP Lit! And these are simple assignments either. APs take up all my time. The problem with APs is they try to make them open to everyone so they give you a bunch of BS work so everyone gets a good grade and you’re first to “work.” I’m taking college courses and they are a lot easier. Yes, the material is a lot more difficult but you have optional homework, and then test/quizzes. There’s no room for busy work.

Now Senior Year…I’m going to die.

junior year was more demanding for me because i always had the fact that this is the year that might make or break me in the back of my head.

I can’t believe that most of you have an easier time this year. My school, with me only taking 3 APs, is unbelievably difficult this year, so much so that people leave for public school to boost their grades. We work harder than we will in college, so say most of my teachers, this year. They are truly putting us through the gauntlet. Last year was not that bad at all, but this year is so intense. Everybody’s grades have dropped down.

same here! maybe its cause i like my classes more and am not taking AP Freak-the-Heck-Out

It was easier for me b/c from freshman year to sophomore year I went from having one honors course to three, and sophomore to junior year I went from three to four.

It all depends on your individual circumstances.

As I read these messages, I’m thinking “Gulp.” I’m junior: I have a mandatory PE class, Spanish III, APUSH, Chemistry, Novels and Short Stories, College Algebra and Trig, and English III.
Will I look bad for having just one AP? That’s the only one offered to juniors at my school. All of the other classes were the highest level/hardest that a junior can take. None of my classes are honors since the school doesn’t offer honor classes. So how I am supposed to compete with peopel who take 3 AP’s?

Are you trying to get into Ivies?

i had to do homework on Fridays junior year.

lol last week I had to stay up until three to finish an enviro lab report + spanish project

felt doozy the next day during my history + spanish tests…it does get pretty bad sometimes

it is my firm belief that “8 hours of homework a night” means “1-2 hours of homework and 6-7 hours of facebook a night”
