hi i was wondering if i did early decision to both MCS and CFA, and only got accepted to CFA, does that mean i am required to go to CFA only? Thanks

you can only ED to one school

but there is a joint program between mcs and cfa that i wish to go. So then if i did ED to mcs and get in, and cfa to regular decision, then i can be considered for the bachelor of science and arts?

To CMU,

I requested an application through the admission homepage, and I want to know when i get to start the admission process for freshmen entering in 2006.

How much does it cost to take a meningitis shot @ orientation week?

Thanks

Hey CMU Admissions college rep. guy,

Do you know how competitive the computational finance program is at CMU? I heard it's a world class program.

^^I want to get in that one day!

To anyone: If I apply to a college in CMU ED1, get deferred or rejected, can I apply to another school during ED2 or Regular Decision?

If so, how do I indicate that on Common App? Just ranked the two schools I'm interested in, and let them take care of the rest? Or do I have to call or something?

Dear CM Admission,

How would you rate the biology, pre-med, and BME program there?

Hello there,

Unfortunately, there is no early decision option available for the Bachelor of Science and Arts (joint program) that you are intersted in. There are a couple of options. You could either apply early decision to one school and then ultimately transfer intot the BSA program or wait until regular decision (December 1st for Fine arts applicants) and apply for the BSA at that point.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to call our Office of Admission at 412-268-2082.

Best of luck!

cd0120,

The Tepper School of Business has become increasingly more competitive in recent years because of the recognition its received. I would encourage you to visit our web site and look at "College requirements" to learn more about who we are looking for to add to the Tepper school.

REPLY: Great questions. If you apply to Carnegie Mellon as part of an early decision plan, you can received three different decisions: 1) admit, 2) defer (you will be placed in the next option. either ED2 or RD unless otherwise stated) or 3) rejected. If either option 2 or 3 occurs, you can apply to another school under ED2 or regular decision.

You can do this by Checking off more than one college that you are interested in and target your application/essay, materials accordingly. In the Carnegie Mellon supplement, you can rank the programs you are interested in (#1 being your first choice, and selection for ED). If you are deferred or rejected, you will be considered for the other choices.

Please call our office and we will be happy to help you through this process - 412-268-2082.

Dear Carnegie Mellon Rep,

Can you please comment on CMU's computational finance program? How competitive is it?

To study business at Carnegie Mellon, you would need to apply to the Tepper School of Business. Once accepted your major would be in Business Administration and then you could elect to focus/concentrate on computational finance. The computational finance classes are quite strong and take a hands-on approach to problem solving. For more specific information, please either visit the Tepper School of Business web site or call our office. Hope this helps.

help me plz

i am a prospective student (senior) and i will be applying to the tepper school of business at CMU. However, i am not taking physics, and physics is a requirement (i read it on the CMU website). Will i be disqualified from getting in to CMU?
thks a lot

CMU rep:

"While we do look at the Freshman year grades, we typically recalculate their gpa and examine grade trends using 10th, 11th and mid-year 12th academic record. In some cases we will weigh freshman grades more heavily when looking at special circumstances (health issues, drop off or increase in grades, etc.)"

Freshman grades will be weighted MORE heavily if there is an increasing grade trend year by year?

Dear CMU rep:,

How heavily are the senior year grades and course schedule weighed in terms of the entire aspect of high school academics. For example, If a high schooler has taken a much harder course load and has succeeded in getting his/her best grades ever, how will that be looked upon in terms of the entire HS gpa/HS grades?

Thank You

nice post...

can you please tell me what are the chances of scholarship for an international student present at CMU in his second third and fourth year if one performs well.
Does CMU take international Transfers and does it give scholarships to transfer intls
