Welcome, College Rep: Carnegie Mellon Admission

Hi, I applied RD for the CFA: Architecture and had everything sent out by the first. However, you of course did not receive much of it until later, and did not recieve my online application until the second. Will this hurt me?

Also, since Architecture doesn't require portfolio review or audition, will we receive an admission decision sooner? Or will we receive them with the rest of the CFA hopefuls?

Hello,

Will the RD admission decision be sent any time UPTIL April or will it be sent only in April?

CMU rep,

i cant find the pre-app for CMU. apparently intels are required to fill this out. is it acceptable if I send in the Certification of Finance from Collegeboard instead of filling in the pre-app..?

thanks

CMU rep:

If I have:
SATs: 2040
SATII: Math IIC:680 US History:670
3.63 GPA
6 AP classes with 5 on AB Calc, and 4 on U.S. History
some extracurriculars with leadership postions
no interview

Will I have a chance to get into Tepper? Thank you

NF318, I'm not him so I cannot speak for him, but I doubt that he can answer that. I say go for it.

Hello!

I have a question. Freshman year I took two advance computer classes (one in the fall, one in the spring) and I recieved A's for both. Then in my sophomore year of high school, I received a C (first quarter B, second quarter D) in my Programming Languages class (I was behind with assignments) and that pulled down my GPA (but with all my other grades, I had all A's and one B). However, I took the AP Computer Science exam and recieved a 4.

My question is:
During the admissions process, would the C grade jeparodize my chances for admission or would the 4 I recieved on the AP CS exam slightly override the C grade?

looks like the CMU rep is on a nap.

shrug apparently so. well, we all can wait.

Hey I was just wondering if someone could tell me how to apply for financial aid online. I can't seem to get to the online form. If some one could sen me a link that would be great. Thanks.

NF318, read the thread "Overview of our visit to CMU," which is found here in this forum. It gives the median SATs for each school at CMU. For Tepper, it was 1360 for both Math and Verbal. I don't think that you are that far away from what is needed at least SAT wise. I don't know about the GPA requirements.

Hi CMU rep,

What are my chances at cit and tepper?

Junior
large competitive public, around 1300 kids in graduating class
top 12%
2020 sat(740 math,640 reading, 640 writing) retaking in april(predict 2150+)
I take hardest courseload available(IB program)
EC's= band(4years,squad leader next year) varsity bowling team, FBLA(10-11), Lit Crit, NHS, math club, secretary of a political forum, and over 200 volunteer hours

Thanks

Vinnie, reps won't give chances, and you should really relax about it. There are a lot more too admissions than numbers. I saw your jhu post, chances really just turn into a mess because reps can't answer and peers get out of hand.. just some advice.

I am applying as transfer to CMU' BSA program--Arch and Biochem. Can u give ball park # of how many transfers do you accept on average--although it varies yr to yr.

if you go to the link below to check your application status, it will print the following message--Sat 02/18--jus to let you all know.

hey, I have a question about CMU admission.
Does CMU allow tripple majors? I know that you allow double majors...
And, are these majors allowed to be in two separate colleges? Or would I have to apply to the two different colleges separately or something?
thanks.

idamayer, what are you planning on majoring in?

ah! sorry, I forgot to write that:
cs, creative writing, and a student designed major in linguistics
(there is a linguistics minor and i have done research and cross refrenced the reqs for majors and minors in the modern languages department, and a linguistics major appears very straightforward to 'design')
