<p>As an matter of courtesy to our College Reps (who have real-world jobs and are incredibly busy during the admissions season!), please don’t post pleas for help naming the individual (e.g., “Auburn Tiger - Need Answer ASAP!!!” is what NOT to do - ask your question in a new thread with a clear and specific title, and you’ll get input from CC members and, perhaps, from the resident College Rep if he/she has something to contribute.)</p>

<p>Hi i am from a catholic private school in florida and i have a 3.0 and have been a 4 year captain on our soccer team my sat is not bad 530 on math 570 on reading and 570 on writing i have been admitted to alabama and i was wondering if i could get into auburn i saw that min gpa for a scholarship was 3.0 for out of state but my sat was a little bit lower then what you need what are your thoughts?</p>
<p>Auburn is a great school! I attended graduate school at Auburn University and would highly recommend it for both undergraduate and graduate study. Auburn is a very small town, which took some getting used to, but it was a great experience. The academics are pretty standard in terms of quality. I don’t think Auburn will be confused with Harvard, but I think you are getting a very solid education that compares with any school on the USNWR Rankings outside the “top 40” or so schools in the country. The campus is great and the game days are awesome, but what really separates Auburn from its peer institutions - in my opinion - are its people. The students, administrators, and faculty members are just the best! There’s a sense of “family” at Auburn. Its weird. I didn’t buy into the “Auburn Family” mantra until I experienced it. I will say I think Auburn is fairly heavy on the fraternity/sorority life. Some people like that and some people don’t. As a grad student, it didn’t impact me. I could also see someone who is not into the “country life” being bored at times. There’s not a ton to do in Auburn, AL if you are someone who needs all the craziness of a big city or a major college town to stay occupied. But, Auburn is just over an hour away from Atlanta - so you do have convenient access to a large metro area to get away on weekends. </p>
<p>Finally, I’m not hung up on rankings, but I acknowledge their impact and importance. I feel this school is underrated. I think you are going to a school that might be ranked in the mid-80’s/low-90’s, but getting the value of a school ranked in the mid-40’s/low 50’s. I think this is a candidate - especially the Business School - for moving up the rankings in the near future. In 2013, the COB received a large alumni donation that will undoubtedly raise the prestige of the COB and the school to some degree. Again, that’s just my personal opinion.</p>
