Ya, definately in. The priority scholarship deadline was December 1st, so if you applied by then, you will probably get at least 2/3 tuition off, so I hope you did.

I wonder why U of Alabama gets a lot of posts and Auburn hardly any when they are very similar schools...

I was accepted, waiting for my scholarship info...

notthatgood4--Alabama probably gets more posts because it is a larger school and much more recognized nationally (football). Not to mention, that in recent years, Alabama has pretty much courted National Merit Finalists by offering them full tuition, room and board, a laptop and stipends for the summers regardless of whether they are in or out of state. I am a very "old" Auburn grad; son was a NMF, Alabama pursued him heavily while Auburn only sent him two pieces of mail. You would have thought that since he was a legacy, he would have been courted as much or more given his stats, but that just didn't happen. I found it to be rather disappointing, as a matter of fact! Good Luck to the OP as I think you stand very good chances--even if you are out of state.

For 2007, US News ranked Auburn and Alabama equally. For 2008, Alabama is ranked ahead of Auburn, but, many times, over the years, Auburn has been ranked ahead of Alabama. Auburn ranks ahead of many schools that are more difficult with respect to admissions. And, while Auburn is easier to get into than some schools, it graduates some fine students who get into the best graduate and professional schools.

ya.... I mean i knew it was a good school academically (why i applied) just still confused on how tough it is to get in. But ya if i get as much money as notthatgood4 says Auburn is sounding like a very good choice

notthatgood4: did you receive your notification via email or post? I applied a month ago and so did my friend (who had far lesser stats) and he got his acceptance the other day. I don't understand why it could possibly take this long....it still says "complete and ready for review" on the status page......

I got the letter in the mail about a month ago.

Notre Dame AL: Those were the reasons I suspected, but the reasons Granny sited (not to mention the 6 straight victories over U of A) makes it seem a bit illogical. Nice to see it going again.

I live in the North (Chicago area) and from my research, Southern large public universities have outstanding scholarships, especially for out of state students. It definately has me considering my options.

As someone who was in the hospital during the PSAT last year and didn't get a chance to take it, it's nice to have colleges like Auburn not have their scholarships depend too much on this National Merit stuff.
