Welcoming community?

I am looking for feeback regarding what kind of experience a student with Asperger's Syndrome (a form of high functioning autism) might have at Lawrence. For example, how tolerant, friendly, welcoming, etc. an experience such a student might have. What challenges they might face at Lawrence compared to other schools? Any thoughts? Thanks.

pitytheroses, when I visited LU, nearly everyone I met there seemed very mature and capable of warmly welcoming a student with Asperger's (I don't have Asperger's, but one of my classmates does, so I'm familiar with it and the challenges it brings). I don't plan on going to LU next year, so I can't speak from a "real" student's perspective, but it seems to me that someone with Asperger's wouldn't have a harder time at Lawrence than at any other similar, open-minded school (and most liberal arts schools are very tolerant). I know that Lawrence prides itself on individual attention and small class sizes, and that seems like that would create a good environment not just for those with Asperger's, but for lots of students in general.

Izzy D. - Thank you for your input. I have now visited the campus and I agree with what you said - it was a welcoming experience and I was impressed with the maturity and accepting attitude of the students and faculty.
