Well, I May Have Blown It...

For the last two semesters, I've attended a small community college. Due to health problems and a freak accident, I missed class far too often during the first semester. I was put on academic probation and denied financial aid. I appealed it by submitting a letter from my physician, and it worked.

I was doing fine attendance and grade-wise until halfway through the semester. I missed a few days classes, and even with the proper doctor/hospital documentation, many of my teachers wouldn't let me make up missed work. Once again, I ended up with an incredibly low GPA, with no clue how to fix things... or if I even can.

The schoolwork was never a problem, but that doesn't help the fact that, on paper, I look like a major slacker.

How do I fix any of this? Paying for classes out-of-pocket until I bring up my GPA?

This is just a shot in the dark, but is there any way to apply somewhere else as a freshman?

As soon as the faculty is back from the holidays, I will speak to an adviser. However, I would really appreciate any feedback.

just do your best from here on out. and since you said the work isnt the problem, you should be fine.

i dont see an issue since you have proper documentation. when it comes to transferring or whatever you want to do, you can provide evidence as to why you did so poorly during that period in your education, so it shouldnt effect your chances of getting accepted that much.

you can apply elsewhere as a freshmen, but your academic records will always follow you.

just bring up your GPA as much as you possibly can and explain your circumstances when you apply. and also talk to an adviser from the school you with to transfer too, or whatever the case may be.

you may be able to petition your grades…but thats a guess. ask the adviser ASAP.
