Hi I’m a rising senior from Virginia and have had a variety of interests throughout high school. I’ve done music production, programming (AI research), filmmaking, and Model UN to name a few. All of my activities have been significant time commitments, but not a lot of them are directly related to my intended major (computer engineering).
What are some good engineering programs that you would recommend?
Stats
GPA- 4.45 weighted
Class Rank- 9/430 ish
SAT - 1550 16 on essay
APs- 7 APs and all 5’s. I received a 5 on AP Comp Sci and BC Calc (I think engineering schools look for this particularly)
SAT 2- Will take in the coming week, hoping to get above 700 on both physics and math 2
Thank you!
Cost constraints?
Unweighted GPA?
My parents would like to keep the cost under 45 k/year if it’s a private or out of state school. My school doesn’t calculate unweighted GPA, but it should be around 3.7-3.8.
Looks like you have a number of state universities in Virginia with computer engineering. Would any of them be admissions and financial safeties that you like?
Christopher Newport University
George Mason University
Old Dominion University
University of Virginia
Virginia Commonwealth University
Virginia Military Institute
Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University
Virginia State University
Outside of your state universities, what other schools or school characteristics interest you?
I really like UVA and Virginia Tech but am also applying to George Mason as a safety. Outside of state schools, I am looking for a few reach and match engineering schools. Schools that have possible merit scholarships would be great as well.
