Decision: Accepted
Objective:
SAT I (breakdown): 1400, 720 reading, 680 math (I don’t remember what I got on the writing, sorry)
ACT (breakdown): NA
SAT II: NA
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.85
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): top ten percent (my school ranks on the decile system)
AP (place score in parenthesis): AP French (5), AP Spanish (5), AP World (4)
IB (place score in parenthesis): NA
Senior Year Course Load: I’m a dual-enrolled student and take half of my classes, Macroeconomics, Humanities in the US, Environmental Science, and Anthropology of Globalization, at the local college. At my high school I take AP Gov, AP Lit, Journalism, and Culinary.
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): None. My school doesn’t really participate in national awards and I haven’t really done anything award-winning. I’m an AP Scholar if that helps.
Subjective:
Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Ballet (14 years and was a principal dancer in a local company), Human Rights Commission (2 years, committee leader), Commission on the Status of Women (1 year), Interact Club (4 years, VP as a junior), QSA (1 year, treasurer)
Job/Work Experience: Internship at local paper
Volunteer/Community service: I volunteer very frequently at a local art gallery (2 years) and do a lot of tutoring in Spanish (4 years).
Summer Activities: NSLI-Y Arabic Summer (language learning program), Middlebury Monterey Language Academy (two summers in the Spanish Academy and one in the French Academy), and Ballet
Essays (rating 1-10, details): I didn’t really like how my Common App essay turned out. It wasn’t very descriptive and did more telling than showing. Right before I checked my portal, I reread my supplements and couldn’t believe how poorly they were written (at least for my standards), but I really liked what I wrote because it was personal to me and my experiences and how I would be affected by a Wellesley education. All of my essays did tie my common theme together though, which I did like.
I really don’t know if I can rate my own essays accurately, but I guess I would give the Common App one a 6 or 7, and the Wellesley ones maybe a 7 or 8.
Recommendations (rating 1-10, details):
Okay these are all super subjective because I have only read my recommendations and didn’t really have anything to compare.
Teacher Rec #1: My AP World teacher wrote this for me and I really liked the letter. I would give it maybe an 8 or 9.
Teacher Rec #2: I asked my computer science teacher, who I’ve had for three years, but I didn’t read the letter.
Counselor Rec: I liked what my counselor wrote for me. We have a pretty good relationship and she knows a lot about my personal life and who I am, so that’s good. I would give it a 9.
Additional Rec: NA
Interview: I connected with my interviewer pretty well I guess. We had similar interests and mutual connections, so we were able to talk a lot about that.

Reflection
Strengths: Really passionate and informative essays that I think really conveyed my personality. I think my interview helped, too. My ECs demonstrated my interest in all the things I hope to pursue in college.
Weaknesses: test scores, GPA, lack of awards, crappy essays
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I think I painted a really good picture of the type of student that I am and the type of person who I would be at Wellesley. It was a very cohesive and connected application, and I’m really passionate about the things I do, and I think that showed through my application.
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected:Syracuse (accepted), and I’m still waiting on some more schools.
General Comments:
I’ve always been interested in reading the results threads of the colleges I’m interested in, so I hope this helps future applicants. I’m elated to be part of the class of 2022. I can’t wait to meet everyone at SOC!
