The basketball games at Holy Cross are what draws a lot of students there.
Wellesley is considered politically conservative compared to many colleges, but I’d guess it’s moderate overall, with all viewpoints in play, but all with a women-power bent.
It sounds like you’d feel more comfortable at Holy Cross though.
^ I beg to differ, but in no way is Wellesley politically conservative compared to just about anywhere.
Think about MHC, Barnard, BMC, Agnes Scott, Spelman, Scripps, Mills. Wellesley’s definitely the most conservative of the bunch. Add NESCAC or the top 50 LACs, and I think only Holy Cross, W&Lee, and Davidson would be more conservative (outside of women’s issues, since Wellesley is a women’s college and has thus a special mission).
No problem about the conservatism part. The less of that the better. Understand holy cross maybe a bit more conservative than Wellesley, but that is debatable. Anyway, I consider them both fine politically and note that conservative websites ding Wellesley often because it promotes women’s issues too much. Duh!
Again, I really love both of these schools and I appreciate greatly all these points of thought to consider. Thanks and keep them coming please!
@1hardworker: You seem pretty informed about both schools, I since that you already made up your mind. I’m guessing your leaning toward Wellesly? That would be an exellent choice.
Wellesley it is. I am excited but also sad about turning down the nice holy cross folks!
@1hardworker: Congrats on your decision and good luck!
Congrats. Wellesley is a great choice.
