I'm currently a freshman in high school and I'm intrested in a couple clubs that I want to join.
the clubs I want to join are
Future Buisness Leaders Of America
California Scholarship Federation
American Red Cross
Animal Protection
Key Club
MESA
Are any of you in any of theses clubs?
How are they?
Did you like them?
and also how is the Upward Bound summer program?

try them out.
If I liked them it does not mean you will.
If you do not like a club you can always quit.

It depends on how your school or chapter or local club runs it.

I attempted to do FBLA, and it didn’t work out. When I attended the meetings they were filled with people and to become a member you must either pay $12 or sell coffee (maybe this was just my school). I sold coffee and became a member, but the meetings were still insanely full. In the end, freshman cannot really do much in FBLA because you need to be informed. For example: you can help raise money but you cannot go to competitions. Why? Because, 1. my teacher did not inform the freshman of these competitions and 2. when we asked about them she handed us the paper with the subjects we needed to study, and we realized there was no way we could study certain things in a month.

I’m probably joining HOSA next year, because FBLA wasn’t my thing.

Depends on your school. If it has a lot of members who are really involved, then it must be of some worth, right?

FBLA: First year. I went to the regional competition, and I didn’t place, but some others are going to the state competition. You can get some good awards from that. You can also run for regional leadership positions (i.e. president of your region, not just your school). Aside from that, we’ve had a guest speaker who presented an internship opportunity, and a field trip to ABC studios.

CSF: I spent a couple lunchtimes registering people for CSF, then inputting data, so we don’t do much. But being president always helps.

ARC: We had Measles Initiative this week and I alone sold 100 wristbands. This is pretty much our only major event in the whole year, aside from the optional Safe Kids days. If you’re really motivated and into fundraising, you can make a huge difference.

Honestly, I think the best way to go is attend clubs that appeal to you (and if you’re reluctant to go alone, bring a friend), and decide whether or not you want to continue with it after a few meetings. Once you’ve committed yourself to a club, be involved - go the events, get to know other club members and the adviser, participate. Doing so will help you earn a leadership position when elections come around.

thanks for all the comments
I will join some of these
:D

Future Business Leaders Of America
Only join this if you are going to major in something that is related to any one of the competition events.

California Scholarship Federation
Absolutely must join this. You may get scholarships when you graduate.

American Red Cross
Join this. You can become CPR, First Aid, and ETS certified and participate in relief efforts that pertain to the greater community and those that are affiliated with other major organizations. A lot more official and recognized then Key Club.

Animal Protection
I guess you could join this if you really like animals and support animal activism.

Key Club
Don’t join this stupid club that nearly every one is in.

MESA
Never heard of his club.

MESA? Middle Eastern Student Association or Mathematics, Engineering & Science Achievement? I did a quick google search…

Or are you talking about MENSA?

FBLA. I just won third at state yesterday for economics so I am going to nationals.

Future Buisness Leaders Of America
^^Sounds awesome, i wish my school had that

It’s Mathematics Engineering & Science Achievment

Key Club is too NHS-I’mDoingThisForMyApplicationy for me…

i’m in key club - running for president next yr

For Key Club, it really just depends how dedicated the members and officers are. We’ve had some bad years and good years. For example, I would say last year was a meh, considering that only three of the six officers were really active and dedicated, but this year is good :] Good year = lots of volunteering and active. Bad year = D:

CSF…It’s really a Iamdoingthisforapps at my school. I don’t know about other schools though.
