Wesleyan Freeman Scholarship Finalists: UNITE!

Hi Ly :) Congrats to you and your best guy friend!

jurily: I'm going to meet the other freeman (singapore) tmr for dinner :)

Can't wait to meet you all freemans and wes pple this fall :D

wow crygoose thats cool
im curious, did they choose 1 guy n 1 girl from each country?

They choose 1 guy and 1 girl from singapore this year :)
Do get on the WesAdmit listserv...it's full of messages!!

i'm not sure if they always choose 1 guy and 1 girl, but it's the same last year for Vietnamese :D

@jurily: we have 10 finalists. Of the 5 coming from Ha Noi, 4 are classmates, and I am the only left. Of the 4 coming from Ho Chi Minh city, 3 are classmates :P So you can see we do know each other. And after wes reception, I keep in touch with all of them.
Here, I will have a party/celebration with those who are going to US colleges, maybe even those who are attending.

@all: do you attend English speaking high school? it seems that we Vietnamese, who don't, may go to Yale to study ESL. It's said to be a lot of fun, but it also means little time to spend in VN.

yeah i wanna go to Yale for that eng course, though i dont think i really need it. but i heard it was fun and i kinda wanna go try out Yale hahaha

hi everyone!!! i'm SOOO happy to see all of u in this forum! :) wesleyan rocks! oh, and freeman scholars rock even more! :D btw, how do u guys (and girls) find out the other scholar from your country? i tried calling the insurance office (is it AIA or AIG btw? :) ) and apparently, they even didn't know that I got in... so, until now, i still dunno who the other indonesian is...
well, from the past few years, they've always chosen 1 girl and 1 guy each year. last year, the girl was my senior (who also studied in singapore) and she didn't need to attend the Yale ESL. but the guy needed to attend and his parents told me that the ESL program was full of fun... but, i agree with ngohuongly, it means tt we hv to leave earlier... btw, does any of u know how they select ppl for the ESL program? is it based on their TOEFL scores or something?

i just talked to the other freeman from HK... i'm kinda disapted cuz he's not too friendly and not too excited abt the whole thing either :( HOWEVER it's GREAT to see you guys here!! i didn't even know they actually select ppl for the ESL thing! i thought i could put up my hand and say i wanna go and they'd let me go :D but how long is the program? sby told me it's 6-week and if thats true i wouldnt be able to attend cuz i have to be in HK to pick up my AL results

i know they're rich, but i don't think the freemans are willing to pay for ESL program for ppl who don't need it :D

hahaha that makes sense too

oh, the guy selected that year told me that they offered ESL to those who don't study in Singapore or at int'l schools, which (I guess) means English speaking schools. But I'm not sure

If you want to know about the other one, ask Terri, she'll answer.

so i won't be selected? no yale for me? :)

crygoose: i've signed up for the WesAdmit already, but i still hvn't received anything... do they hv like a specific group for freeman scholars?

they dont hav a specific group for freeman scholars, its just for all the admitted students. ahh i wanna go to that ESL Yale thing, would it be too late for me to pretend i dont speak any English? :P

jurily: me too! I want to go for the ESL thing :)

e1dj86: WesAdmit will send all messages to your email account. Perhaps, you could try again? :)

well, have you received the package from Wes? I mean after you confirm your enrollment. Maybe you can go to Yale, who knows? :)
I'm really confused now? Go June or August? :(

oh we'd get another package after confirming the enrollment? thats great!! i love getting stuff from wes v

oh, I mean the stuff about visa, health insurance, etc...

oh
btw how long does it take to get the visa?

i juz faxed my response form and i received this e-mail with a striking "hooray!" written in it... i just love wesleyan and i just love everyone in the admission office :) in the e-mail, they wrote "We have not yet determined who will be recommended for the Yale ESL program." and by the word "recommend", i assume we can choose to attend it even if we're not recommended?
you know what, why don't all of us attend it if we can choose to? :)

oh and of course, they'll send more stuff once you send back the response form. jurily, u can leap in joy now! :D
