Wesleyan University, QuestBridge Partner‏ Email?

I recently got an email from Wesleyan saying:

Hello from Middletown. I am writing because QuestBridge recently brought your name to my attention and suggested that you would be a good addition to the Wesleyan community.

We were delighted to learn that you have already expressed an interest in Wesleyan and hope that as your college search progresses you will continue to consider Wesleyan, one of America's outstanding colleges, among your choices. We are blessed with an outstanding student body, exceptional faculty and superb facilities. In the best tradition of small liberal arts and science colleges, classes at Wesleyan are small and relationships with professors close and informal, offering excellent opportunities for academic and personal growth.

We invite you to learn more about Wesleyan, starting with a visit to our web site, Are You Wesleyan? Office of Admission - Wesleyan University, where you can take a virtual campus tour and find a wealth of information about student life, financial assistance, and the curriculum.

We also invite you to visit us in person. We offer two Open House programs in the fall, October 11 or November 11, but would be happy to welcome you to campus whenever is most convenient for you. If costs are a concern we invite you to submit an application for our Transportation Assistance Program (TAP), which provides round-trip transportation to campus, as well as housing and meals for a select group of high school seniors. While the Open House programming accommodates all visitors, the number of participants we can host overnight is limited. If you would like to apply for transportation assistance, for an Open House or another date, please go to

Can anyone explain to me what this means?

i am a junior right now and one of my top colleges is Wesleyan so i was ecstatic when i saw this email. Is this for everyone that applies to questbridge or does it contain some kind of meaning?

I received a similar message, only, my email differs in how it begins. Here is how mine starts:

Hello from Middletown, and congratulations on your selection as a QuestBridge College Prep Scholar! The high school senior class of 2011 will be the third on which Wesleyan University will partner with QuestBridge to help outstanding students find a place at America’s top colleges. We are excited about the addition of our second group of Quest Scholars; thirteen matched finalists and twenty-three non-matched Scholars will join the thirty-six Scholars in Wesleyan’s Class of 2013, sixteen of whom were Quest-Wesleyan matches.

I am also unsure as to whether this selection is ONLY open to those who recieved the email, or is simply another college reminding me to consider their university as an option. I hope it is the former, but I cannot say for sure. Is this program similar to Williams’ campus visit option?

Well, I’d say that this means you were nominated for college visits because this college is inviting you to visit (they offer financial aid too, yay). In addition to being nominated, you might have signed up to receive e-mails from their college, showing your interest. I’m not sure how “exclusive” this is, but I doubt they were too picky.

well i didnt get anything from QuestBridge. That was why i was surprised at this email

does anyone know if this is “exclusive” or just an email to all questbridge applicants?

should i just call them?

I found the link to the travel assistance program, readily available to anyone who is interested online - [Travel Assistance Program, Admission - Wesleyan University](http://www.wesleyan.edu/admission/visiting_campus/travel_assistance.html)

Whenever that is the case, I would say it is not exclusive. However, how many people are aware of the program? Probably not many, so it doesn’t hurt to apply, that is, if you are interested in Wesleyan.

The WOW program (Window on Williams) is NOT available to all people, in contrast, and thus IS exclusive.
