Westpoint

How and what do I need to apply for Westpoint Military Academy? I heard it's really hard to make it.

You need to be involved in athletics and have qualities of leadership. Also you have to be a stud in academics but some can sneak past that. I'm going to the naval academy next year so the requirements should be simular.
Let me see your stats

Did you try going onto usma.edu? West Point wants all-around students. It is one of the most selective schools in the country, and its academics are said to be ivy league education mixed with military training. Like usna said, you need leadership, sports, EC's, and a good school record.

its actually pretty easy to get into. you just have to have a one or two varsity captainships for two sports, be able to do 100+ push-ups at once, run 5+ miles everyday, and not suck at school. Your recs are the most important, I'd say. Your academics don't need to that good at all. The kids I know who are going there have atrocious grades, atrocious scores, and would not be the kind of people that anyone would look to for academic help.

Well, the academic requirements are certainly not comparable to top colleges, but your scores should probably be better than atrocious, also. The average SAT was 1268, average high school GPA was 3.67.

There are a lot more hoops to jump through, too. You have to get recommendations from people like your Congressman.

Check out the service academy thread also. Assume that, if you're coming from high school and you're not a recruitable athlete, your SAT's need to be way in excess of the average. Roughly 200-250 members of each class are enlisted service members or athletes with high leadership potential that went through West Point Prep....their SAT's pull down the overall average. 1400 would be a good target. If you live in VA, NY, CT, or MD, higher.
