Wharton chances?

I was wondering what my Wharton chances are :P of course it'd help if you got your decisions but maybe it's obvious enough now :P

Why chance me now and then again on december 9? I'd like to see how accurate the chancing really is... as in chance now, december 9 compare me with someone who has ECs approx. the same level as mine and scores the same as mine then change your chance and let's see what happens?

Please read through the whole thing. The ECs will make a difference for me.

I'm not sure if that made sense but anyhow...

Asian Female
California

GPA (our school does NOT differentiate between A-s and As. therefore, my gpa is probably lower since i live off A-s):

UW: 3.5
W: 3.8 (upwards trend; junior year: 4.2)

SCHOOL PRACTICES GRADE DEFLATION IN HONORS/AP CLASSES. As in the highest UW gpa for a person taking challenging classes is a 3.67-3.8. This is on the A- = 3.67 scale.

Classes:
Freshman year: three honors
Sophomore year: two honors, one ap
Junior year: 2 Aps, 1 honors (AP Bio + AP Chem) <- light schedule because i simply did not see the point in taking apush and there were scheduling errors that could not be fixed. (budget cut -> counselor fired -> school's fault? )
Senior Year: 2-3 APs (exhausted my APs )

SAT:
2220 680 CR/750M/790 W

Predicting ACT score of ~34-35

ECs:
-**own several businesses making thousands a year[\b]
-own several websites making thousands a year
-70 hours of community service (still growing, i'm a junior)
-4 years varsity track
-nonprofit (attempting to found, still working on it)

Essay:

Talks about my passion for business and tech and how since I was 7 i was interested in making websites and businesses and how i used them to help out my family I made myself so sound really poor though when we were really only poor during the recession (stock market crash) ... i'm pretty sure we're considered rich ;___;

Anyhow the essay really shows my passion, love, explains some reasons for my poor grades, yadayada :P Assume that it's pretty good

Recs:

Counselor- I'm assuming it's going to be very cliche.
Teacher- Umm.... Assume slightly above average

Chance away Or wait till Dec 9 xP.

didnt u apply to cornell?
could have sworn i saw ur post there

I’m a junior xD

Cornells my top choice but I’m looking around now ^^ I remember Penn used to be my dream school :p

id say GPA is not ideal enough considering you are not taking many AP’s
EC making profits is good but you seem to have minimal involvement with school extracurricular (you only have track team)
70 hours volunteer is not enough at all, aim for the thousands
you are a junior so you have plenty of time to get things improved
also do u have any awards?

Working on awards this year :)

Hmm I took the most rigorous courses up till this year when scheduling got messed up due to budget cuts. They made incorrectable errors on my schedule therefore placing me into less APs. t.t next year I’m taking ap psych ap comp sci ap calc bc etc.

As for hours, I’m working on that  plenty of time haha!

I have clubs and csf at school but nothing I find really noteworthy  I’m going to focus y app entirely on my business and see how that goes  less, but better ecs

i wouldnt suggest you to focus them entirely on your business involvement, that really limits you, its not wharton needs another completely business minded applicant, try to demonstrate your full potential and community involvement
show them you can make a change to the community you are in, not just to youself

If you are a junior how do you have 4 years of varsity track?

I’m doing all 4 years for sure :)

Wharton is so unpredictable, anyone could get in/not get in.

Your GPA is your biggest liability to your application, but everything else looks okay. Just give it a try; you could get lucky.

I’m not seeing any leadership identified here. Are the businesses you run all on your own? Do you have partners or employees? If so, how is the interaction amongst them.

“Working on awards”. Is that for the prestige? If you are passionate about learning, the awards should come naturally. Academic Competitions are different, however. Are you involved in academic competitions? If so, there can be practice with team-mates or on your own for awards is such academic competitions. Can’t tell from the tone of your post exactly how you are accomplishing the “Working…”

If your HS doesn’t have sufficient academic offerings to satisfy your passion for learning, is there a local college where you could be taking additional classes? What do you do in the summers to continue to learn?

The businesses are run entirely on my own. I have partnerships with other entrepreneurs and I sometimes hire people short term. I’ve had sites where I had hired employees to program and such (somewhat like what facebook and google has). Others can be maintained just by myself. As for now, I’ve tried to completely automate the business and when things need to be done, as I said I’d hire somebody for a little bit.

The awards are based on passion. I plan on entering some entrepreneur contests with my businesses later, but I can’t enter in any until senior year. I’m working on my science fair though - i have a passion for science also :-)

In the summer, I mainly work on my businesses honestly. It’s when profits sore up. This summer, however, I’m going to do some community service, intern/work on business, take college classes, etc. There is a local college but classes can only be taken during the summer time.

I’m really not the typical ivy league student. Poor grades, average SAT score, and the only thing I’ve got going for me is my business. >.< I’m not even sure why I’m dreaming/reaching so high.

bumppp :D. any idea now?
