What are some good Wharton classes I can take without needing any extensive econ/math knowledge. Obviously I know about the standard intro classes (MGMT 101, MKTG 101, FNCE 100, etc.). Just wondering if anyone knows about any other Wharton classes that could be useful but are still accessible to non Wharton/econ students. Thanks.
I’d recommend FNCE 203 over 100 (just take 203 P/F if you’re uncomfortable with skipping 100 and going straight to 203). You learn a lot more practical stuff in 203.
ACCT 101 is also a great class if you want to pursue any career involving financial analysis.
For non-finance related classes, MKTG 101 is solid except for SABRE, but if you do well enough on the quizzes and final, you can still do fine in the class with a bad SABRE group.
If you want to learn to code but don’t want the pressure of a CIS class, try OIDD 105 or 311. STAT 470 also exists but probably isn’t what you’re looking for given a non-math background.
Lastly, check the LGST department. They run classes on a variety of topics where the professors are experts in those areas. In particular, I’ve heard good things about 207 (Sports Business Management) and 216 (Emerging Economies).
I’d agree with LGST. No hardcore math at all. I have non-wharton friends who have taken it. Lots of good topics in LGST, and a lot of philosophy too.
Also, if you are interested in healthcare, Wharton has a terrific healthcare management (HCMG) department. Their HCMG courses are also worth taking if you are interested.
