Wharton - ED vs. RD

yes... this is yet another ed vs rd thread but this one pertains only to wharton as compared to the others which are usually for the whole university. im an asian(indian) and would like to know if it would be more advisable for me to applay ed or rd.
some say that the admission rates are higher ed, some say its the same and some even venture to say that its actually better to apply rd since the ed applicats are more focused...

ill be applying this fall and personally i have no clue !

any help would be greatly apreciated

if your first choice is wharton, it’s absolutely better to apply early

If your grades do not have much room for improvement by the time of ED, if your teachers know you well enough, feel comfortable, and have the time to write recommendations by the time of ED, and if your essays are polished enough, then there is no reason not to go ED. If you are not ready by the time of ED, however, I do not see it justified for you to rush it: Go for RD, which should not affect your chances appreciably.

By the way, you should be physically writing your essays by now if you want them to be ready during the ED timeframe.

thanks a lot guys…im starting on my essays today

Contrary to what many people say, ED will not boost your chances ALOT. It is noticeably but theres only a very small number of people (outside of legacies, etc) that will be pushed over the edge from going ed. The extra few months are very valuable in brushing up your application. Though, like DSI said, if you finished say, a few weeks to a month or more early and you’re still satisfied by the ed deadline, then send it in. Most people I know always find something (usually not small either) that they can improve on after sending their app in. My stanford app for ea was terrible for example but I think my wharton app turned out decently with the extra time.

i see… thanks guys… iv started working on my essays and application. ill see how it goes and apply accordingly.
