Wharton/Jerome Fisher for international students

Hi all,

Does anyone know the international acceptance rate for Wharton and Jerome Fisher?

Also, how big is the difference in the acceptance rate for ED v. RD at Wharton?

Thanks :)

I’m not sure if Penn’s dual program (Huntsman, J-F etc.) release their acceptance rates. Anyway, J-F certainly has a lower overall acceptance rate than both Wharton and Engineering and for internationals, this rate is bound to get only smaller. I don’t suppose ED is much of a help because whatever statistical advantage you figure there is, is often negated by the higher quality of the applicant pool. A standard that adcoms aspire to (but probably don’t always meet) is to admit candidates of the same quality in both rounds.

In any case, there’s no use in worrying about things like Wharton, J-F, J-F (intl), Wharton ED vs. RD rates because they are so small most of the time that knowing those rates can only turn you away from those options. In any case, if admissions rates are enough to change your mind, you probably shouldn’t apply anyway.

srrinath what did you mean by ‘this rate is bound to get only smaller’??

why?

Please let me know. Itll be of GREAT help.

Thanks

Well, generally the ratio of international applying and international getting accepted is far lower than that ratio for locals. This is especially true with programs like J-F, which, as a combination of engineering and business is bound to be a very popular prospect with internationals as compared to the Americans. Lastly, even from a temporal point of view, the rates are only bound to decrease as the international visibility of these schools and their specific programs increases and more and more internationals are drawn to apply.

tip: i have never ever heard the jerome fisher program in management and technology called “j-f”, it’s generally referred to as “m&t”

Are int’l students considered in the same applicant pool as the american kids? Also, approximately what part of the Huntsman class, for example, is the one with internationals. And, yeah, I guess nobody knows how many people apply…

Thanks for the replies.

Hmm, to be considered for jerome fisher, would an applicant have to be accepted by upenn first? i.e. do the upenn adcom read your essays/profile first… or is there a separate adcom for the program? just curious.

and yes, i see where you’re going srrinath. If there is any difference in acceptance rates between ED v. RD for a program like this… or for wharton in general … it is probably negligible anyways.
