I recognize that the chances of someone transferring to Wharton are very low, but I thought I’d ask this question anyway.
Wharton’s transfer requirements for freshmen include courses in calculus, microeconomics, and macroeconomics. Scores of 5 in AP Micro and Macro are accepted by the university, but 4’s are not. However, if someone received credit for 4’s at their current institution in introductory microeconomics and macroeconomics courses, would they have to retake the courses at that institution and have the credit from the exams revoked?
That doesn’t answer my question. I wanted to know if I would have to retake introductory microeconomics and macroeconomics in college if I received credit for 4’s at my current institution. Penn wants 5’s. If I want to transfer there, am I supposed to cancel the credit I got for the AP exams and take both classes again in college?
If you received credit and then took ‘more’ advanced micro/macro econ courses at your current college I expect that you’ll be fine. Otherwise you should ask Penn how they would treat your 4’s. My guess is that they would recommend that you take the college course because that’s how they would treat an incoming Wharton freshman.
I believe Fogcity is correct. I think if you have taken and passed a more advanced course, you would probably receive retroactive credit. It also may be possible to test out of the class.
For future reference, since many people love to peruse the forums, there are 13 kids in the transfer group this year that are Whartonites. This is out of 160ish transfers in total
I just transferred to CAS, and there are ELEVEN kids that got into Wharton, and they all had phenomenal stats (like 2300+ SATs etc.) since many people have been wondering. Anyways, Penn will not take your AP credit so I’m pretty sure you’d have to retake the course. But you should call and ask.
