Wharton & UChicago

Trying to make a decision. I was fortunate enough to be accepted into both schools as a transfer student. There are things I love and things I don't about each school, especially with the student body.

They are both excellent in their respective fields of my interests (Wharton Finance, UChicago Economics)

I am exploring all career options, from ibanking and consulting to entrepreneurship and law.

With Chicago I love the whole idea of a broad understanding -- being able to coherently handle a conversation about plato, religion, physics, and politics.

With Wharton -- the name itself speaks volumes for the quality of education and the drive of the student population (although i'm not entirely keen on the cut-throat student body).

and i don't enjoy the grade deflation associated with either.

If anyone needs any more information, don't hesitate to ask! just trying to make an informed decision

My ultimate career goal will be business related, but with the countless routes there, the decision can be somewhat overwhelming.

Any advice or information is both encouraged and appreciated.

Wharton...best business education possible. It will still give you a broad education--not only does Wharton require about 8-10 CAS classes for your degree, but many Whartonites choose to dual-degree in the College or SEAS anyways (so you can build that rounded core if you like...Chicago just forces it on you). And the social life is much better.

P.S. Wharton has the clear edge with career opportunities (only HYPS and Stern can really compare when it comes to placement in finance), though Chicago is still well-recruited.

If you're hardcore about business, I also think Wharton is the way to go.
Less relevant, but having been admitted to Wharton is more impressive.

i had resigned to rejection after a waitlist at dartmouth. needless to say i was pleasantly surprised with a thick envelope on monday afternoon.

May I ask which school you're transfering from?

university of arkansas, fayetteville
